I’m driving home for Christmas, Oh, I can’t wait to see those faces.
It’s that time of year when Chris Rea is playing on the radio and drivers bob their heads as they, quite literally, drive home for Christmas.
We all know someone who will instead be working – the doctors, nurses, fire fighters, policemen, radio presenters, volunteers and those stuck in the office while everyone else is on their ‘olidays. Wonderful humans – we see you! 👀
In fact, we think they deserve a little something. A little slice of appreciation, a pick me up, a thank you.
Rewind ⏪ a few months to our first indies into tech event at Portland Square gem, Milk Teeth. Coffee shop owners, baristas and roasters workshopped how to use huggg in the lead up to Christmas over an espresso martini or two. Ideas were presented to the room and the winning idea crowned.
Magda Peberdy, pal of Convoy Espresso’s Ri Meridith came up with the winning idea of huggging those who work over the Christmas period. (Nice one ⭐️)
What does that look like?
Sending coffee, doughnuts or cake in seconds from your phone as a little pick me up or I’m thinking of you. Messaging but more for those who deserve it the most.
So fastforward ⏩ to the Friday before Christmas when you can’t wait to see those faces. We’re thinking about those that will be in offices, on hospital wards or organising events… instead of driving home for Christmas to the sounds of Chis Rea.
Know someone that’s working over the festive period?
We’re asking our community of hugggers to shout them out. Tag them @huggg_uk and we may just send a little something their way.
We’ll kick it off – a special shout out to Marmalade Trust founder Amy Perrin and her team of volunteers for organising 11 Christmas Day lunches for people who would otherwise be alone. You are amazing! 👏
Over to you. Who deserves some appreciation this Christmas? Tag @huggg_uk.
